About Stephanie

Welcome! I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with more than 15 years of experience as a psychotherapist. My clinical practice pulls from a variety of evidence-based treatments, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Interpersonal Therapy and Psychodynamic Psychotherapy. Treatment goals are decided with the client(s) with the emphasis on client need. We will work collaboratively to encourage growth and change, reduce emotional and psychological stressors, and build upon your inner strengths.

I received a Bachelors of Arts in Psychology from the University of Charleston in West Virginia and my Masters of Social Work from CUNY Hunter College in New York City. During my undergraduate studies, I worked in non-profit organizations focused on helping low-income families cope with mental health issues while also connecting them to support services within the community. I learned how to empathize, engage and support individuals who were dealing with a multitude of issues while also trying to care for themselves and their families. Family work taught me an abundance of lessons, and helped me further understand the importance of healthy interpersonal relationships. I’m forever grateful for my time in the non-profit world, especially to my clients and mentors at that time. The clinical lessons during these years inform my professional practice and understanding of the human experience.

Let’s work together!  I provide individual and couples’ therapy, specializing in sex therapy. I treat anxiety, depression, life adjustments, and grief and loss. In my work with couples, I focus on improving intimacy and connection. Everyone faces challenges in life and can benefit from therapeutic support in working toward their goals. I strongly believe in the capacity for growth and change, and the ability to rewrite your own life story.

What is it that I bring to the table? I recognize your individuality and right to self-determination of your life choices and goals. We all have something to give to this world, and I want to foster and support you in enhancing your sense of agency and effectiveness. In our work, we will take a deep look at your wishes and needs, while also helping you cultivate healthier relationships. Learning about yourself is an ongoing process, one that we can start in our work together.

I strongly support each individual’s sexual identity and sexual expression. My sex therapy practice brings a sex-positive and inclusive framework that allows me to work with a diverse group of clients. I’ve successfully treated sexual health issues and sexual traumas while helping to create healthier relationships. I’m also a proud supporter of the LGBTQIA community, and I strongly believe in and support each person’s right to self-identify. My practice also emphasizes the importance of sex education, and I include this in my work with each client.
